SmartBelt Calculator Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Braxton Hartmann, doing business as SmartBelt Calculator ("SmartBelt," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the SmartBelt Calculator website, application, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:
- Account information: your email address, account identifier, authentication status, and email-verification status.
- Business and document information: calculator settings, program names, templates, offers, document content, and other information you choose to enter or save.
- Subscription information: subscription status and identifiers received from our payment processor. SmartBelt does not directly store full payment-card numbers.
- Technical information: information necessary to operate and secure the Service, such as error information, browser storage, authentication state, and basic usage information provided by our service providers.
- Google Drive information: if you choose to connect Google Drive, SmartBelt receives a short-lived Google access token and the permission needed to create and manage files that SmartBelt creates or that you specifically open with SmartBelt.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- authenticate users and maintain account security;
- provide calculations, templates, saved settings, document generation, history, and subscription features;
- save information to your account and make it available on your authorized devices;
- generate, download, print, or upload documents at your direction;
- operate, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Service; and
- communicate about accounts, support requests, security, or material Service changes.
3. Google Drive and Google User Data
Connecting Google Drive is optional and is separate from your SmartBelt login. SmartBelt requests the limited
drive.file permission only after you choose the Google Drive feature. We use this permission solely to
upload the PDF you requested and to manage files created by SmartBelt or specifically shared with SmartBelt.
SmartBelt does not request permission to browse or manage all files in your Google Drive. Google access tokens are kept in browser memory for the active authorization flow and are not stored in Firestore or browser storage by SmartBelt. Files uploaded to Drive are stored in the Google account you select and are governed by your Google account settings and Google's policies.
SmartBelt's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. When We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information or Google user data. We may share information only:
- with service providers that help operate the Service, such as Google Firebase for authentication, hosting, and database services; Google Drive when you request an upload; and payment processors for subscription billing;
- when you direct us to share or export information;
- when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, SmartBelt, or others; or
- when required by applicable law or a valid legal process.
Service providers may process information only for the services they provide and under their applicable terms and privacy commitments.
5. Browser and Device Storage
SmartBelt uses browser storage and similar technologies to maintain authentication, preserve settings, support drafts, and improve continuity. Some information may remain on a device until you sign out, clear site data, or it is otherwise removed by the Service. If multiple people use one browser, each person should sign out when finished.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and saved Service information for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain security, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Local drafts and cached information may remain on a device until cleared. Google Drive files remain in your Drive until you delete them through Google Drive.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, including account-based access controls and database security rules. No online service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for reviewing information before sharing generated documents.
8. Your Choices and Rights
You may review or change information through the Service, choose not to connect Google Drive, revoke SmartBelt's Google access through your Google Account permissions, and delete uploaded files directly in Google Drive. You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, subject to applicable legal and operational requirements.
9. Information About Other People
You are responsible for ensuring that you have an appropriate reason and any required permission before entering information about a family, student, customer, employee, or other person. Do not enter sensitive information that is unnecessary for using the Service.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for use by businesses and authorized adult users and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create SmartBelt accounts.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service or applicable requirements change. We will update the effective date above and provide additional notice when appropriate.
